Irrfan Khan Diagnosed With NeuroEndocrine Tumour, Actor Issues Statement
Irrfan Khan has been diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour, the same form of cancer that late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was diagnosed with. The actor issued a statement announcing the same on Twitter and has asked his fans to keep sending their good wishes. He has also said in his statement that he is going out of the country to undergo treatment and hopes to return with new stories. There have been speculations in the media over Irrfan’s health after he had announced that he was suffering from a “rare disease”.
On Friday, as Irrfan announced that he has been diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour, he began his statement with a quote by Margaret Mitchell saying, “Life is under no obligation to give us what we expect.” Here is the full statement tweeted by the actor today:

A few days ago, Irrfan Khan shocked fans when he revealed that he is suffering from a rare disease. He had taken to Twitter and shared this with fans. His statement on March 5 read, ” Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life-shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. Little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will. My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best way possible. In trying times, please don’t speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week – ten days, when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me!- Irrfan”
A lot has been said and written about the actor’s health condition so far. The actor was to start working on Vishal Bhardwaj’s film with Deepika Padukone before he found out about the rare disease he is suffering from. Khan’s next release is Blackmail which will hit theatres on April 6. Earlier reports claimed that the film was going to be postponed due to Irrfan’s health condition, however, the actor did not want that to happen. Director Abhinay Deo said, “When I met Irrfan recently, he said please ensure that ‘Blackmail’ has a great release, emphasising that his film’s release date should not suffer owing to his ill health at this time.”
We wish Irrfan a speedy recovery and hope to see him back soon.
