Maruti Suzuki Ignis
Estimated Price – Rs 5.5 Lakh
Launch Date -13 January 2017
December 12, 2016: Maruti Suzuki Ignis concept was revealed at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. The Ignis is Maruti Suzuki’s new mini crossover, which will be pitched against the Mahindra KUV100. Suzuki has revealed the production-spec European version of the Ignis at the 2016 Paris Motor Show (September 30) and we expect that the Indian version is likely to remain similar. It will go on sale around mid January in the Indian market. The Ignis is most likely to be powered by the 1.2-litre K12C petrol motor (84.3PS/ 115Nm) along with the 1.3-litre DDiS190 diesel engine (75PS/ 190Nm) in the country. Speaking of the transmission options, the Ignis will come with an option of 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automated-manual transmission (AMT) with both the engine options in India. In terms of safety, since it will be retailed from the Nexa dealerships, expect dual front airbags along with ABS and EBD to come standard. Recently in European NCAP, Euro-spec Suzuki Ignis got 3 stars for the standard version and 5 stars for the top-spec variant.
Although an entry-level model, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis will still be from the premium Nexa family, which means that it will feature lots of upscale features. A touch-screen infotainment system will be on offer with Apple CarPlay support as well as connectivity through Bluetooth, USB and AUX. The crossover may also come with two-tone leather upholstery, reverse parking sensors and camera, automatic climate control and push button start and stop.
