Moto E5 Leaked Image Reveals Rear Mounted Fingerprint Sensor, Expected to Launch in April 2018

Moto E5 Leaked Image Reveals

Motorola looks all set to launch the successor to the Moto E4 in the coming months. Images of the Moto E5 have cropped up online which point towards the first modern Motorola smartphone with a rear mounted fingerprint sensor.

Spotted by MySmartPrice, the leaked image reveals a 16:9 display, the Motorola branding at the front (curiously not the Moto branding which Lenovo has been using for the past few years), a single camera with an LED flash and a sizeable camera hump, a micro-USB port, a selfie flash and as mentioned above a rear mounted fingerprint sensor embedded into the Motorola logo at the back.

The Moto E5 is not the first Motorola smartphone with a rear fingerprint scanner. The Motorola Atrix – which launched in 2011 and was the world’s first smartphone to come with a fingerprint sensor – also had a rear mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Moto E5 is expected to be powered by a MediaTek chipset and come with a 5-inch display with an aspect ratio of 16:9. The smartphone is also expected to launch in a dual-SIM variant and support 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, GPS and Wi-Fi.

As the clock widget on the leaked picture is set at April 3, the report claims that the Moto E5 could be launched on April 3, 2018. As the Moto E4 was launched in India for 8,999 rupees, we can expect the Moto E5 to be priced somewhere in the vicinity of 8,000 – 10,000 rupees. Motorola is expected to launch three models of the Moto E5 this year – the Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play.
