New Delhi: MS Dhoni became the fourth wicket-keeper to effect 400 dismissals in ODIs when he had Aiden Markram stumped during the third match between India and South Africa. Apparently, he becomes the first Indian wicket-keeper to reach the landmark. Stand-in captain Markram was beaten by a flighted delivery from chinaman Kuldeep Yadav and Dhoni was quick to whip off the bails in the 17th over of the innings.
Kumar Sangakkara (482), Adam Gilchrist (472) and Mark Boucher (424) lead the list of wicket-keepers who have most dismissals to their name.
Dhoni over the years has been excellent behind the stumps and is known for his swiftness. Being the senior player, Dhoni also guides young spinners, Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. MSD keeps providing them with valuable inputs which can be heard on the stump mic as well.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli’ dominance continues as he played an unbeaten captain’s knock of 160 runs to take his side to a mammoth score of 303.
After being asked to bat first, Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan led the charge for India after the departure of opener Rohit Sharma on duck. The two stitched a 140-run partnership as Dhawan was caught out on 76 by Aiden Markram on JP Duminy’s ball.
